1. Jiuzhaigou is a high-altitude area, and most tourists will not experience altitude sickness. However, Huanglong is at a higher altitude and visitors should be cautious and avoid vigorous exercise and excessive alcohol consumption. It is advisable to eat more vegetables and fruit to prevent altitude sickness. Elderly or weak individuals should prepare necessary medications and consider carrying a small oxygen cylinder (which can be purchased in Chengdu). 2. The one-way distance from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou is approximately 400 kilometers. The road conditions are good and it is not as dangerous as some people may suggest, but it is not as safe as on flat land.

Huanglong Scenic Area

Huanglong Scenic Area is located at the foot of Xuebaoding, the main peak of Minshan Mountain. It is a limestone ridge that gradually rises from south to north, resembling a soaring dragon resting in the embrace of the snow-capped glaciers. Huanglong Gou is about 7.5km long and 1.5km wide. From the mouth of the valley, the dragon's ridges undulate, with numerous streams and waterfalls cascading down, as if the dragon is playing with water. The colorful rhododendrons, fiery red maple leaves, and shimmering golden sedges on the mountainside complement the vibrant colored pools, creating a breathtaking landscape. The main attractions in Huanglong include Yingbin Pool, Flying Waterfall Flowing Splendor, Washing Body Cave, Golden Sands, Bonsai Pool, Mirror Reflecting Pool, Colorful Pool, Huanglong Cave, Five-Color Pool, Flower Transformation Pool, and Huanglong Ancient Temple.

Shuzhengqu Sea is the gateway to the beautiful scenery of Jiuzhaigou. Shuzhengqu Sea Gutter is 13.8 kilometers long, with more than 40 lakes (haisi), accounting for about 40% of all lakes in the Jiuzhaigou scenic area. The lakes, like crystal mirrors, stretch for about five to six kilometers along the valley. The shimmering water, rippling waves, singing birds, and swaying reeds... Potted Sea, Reeds Sea, Sparkle Sea, Wolong Sea, Shuzheng Waterfall, Tiger Sea... Amazing sights, beautiful scenery, clear waters, and a jade pool all along the way. Shuzhengqu Sea is composed of 19 lakes, which are like 19 emerald gems embedded in this deep mountain valley. They are connected by green trees and silver waterfalls, like a beautiful emerald necklace for Shuzheng Village.

Nuo Ri Lang Waterfall was severely damaged in the earthquake on August 8, 2017. It collapsed on the afternoon of August 10. The once magnificent waterfall is no longer there.

Jiuzhaigou Five-Color Pool

The colorful pool is hidden deep in the valley below the mountain road. With an altitude of 2995 meters, it is the smallest lake in Jiuzhaigou, but its colors are as gorgeous as the Five-Flower Lake. The colorful pool is exceptionally clear, allowing the bottom of the pool to be seen through the water, revealing the rock patterns. Due to the different colors of the sediment at the bottom of the pool and the plants around it, the originally blue lake surface becomes colorful. It is said that if a couple can walk down the steps to the edge of the colorful pool, silently make a wish, and then climb up 189 steps, they will be able to love each other for a lifetime.
