The best time to visit Hulunbuir Grassland is from June to September, with July and August being the most lush season for grass, and it will also hold the grand Nadam Festival. Self-driving or chartered vehicles are most suitable on the grasslands, and local chartered vehicles are generally divided into full-service and partial route packages. Full-service chartered vehicles (including transportation, fuel, and bridge fees) range from 500-600 RMB per day depending on the type of vehicle, usually a typical small sedan is adequate, and for potentially rough border roads, a higher chassis vehicle such as an SUV can also be chartered. Prices for single-route chartered vehicles for round-trips between two locations can be negotiated according to specific circumstances.
