Introduction

The Yellow River originates deep in Qinghai, with three main sources: the Zaqu, Yugur and Kariqu. The Zaqu mostly dries up, while the Kariqu, with its five springs, has the largest drainage area and never dries up even in droughts. The true source of the Yellow River can be traced back to the Zaolongcha River, the longest tributary of the Kariqu.
