Huangjing Laolin Scenic Area is the last virgin land on the 28° north latitude. It is located in the northern part of Gulin County, belonging to the transitional zone from the Yungui Plateau to the Sichuan Basin in the Chishui River Basin. It covers an area of 433 square kilometers with an average elevation of over 1300 meters. It is a typical Danxia landform area with red sandstone in the Jurassic period. It is also the only well-preserved subtropical primitive evergreen broad-leaved forest area at the same latitude (28° north).
