Introduction

This ancient city once flourished due to the tea-horse trade and is located at the intersection of the Tang-Tibetan Ancient Road and the Southern Silk Road, thus known as the "throat of Hainan" and the "tea-horse trading hub". Although the ancient city is not very large, with Dangar Street as its center, the surrounding shops sell many local tourism souvenirs and Tibetan specialties. There are many temples in the city, such as the City God Temple and the Golden Buddha Temple, most of which were built in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The city sometimes hosts folk performances such as the court rising ceremony. This ancient city is a city of culture, with many poets and mythological legends, as well as folk arts like lanterns, paper-cutting, folk music and dance, and sheepskin embroidery.
