Less crowded and picturesque off-the-beaten-path tourist destinations in Chengdu

With Zhao Lei's popular song spreading throughout the country, Chengdu has transformed itself into an irreplaceable internet-famous city. However, what many people don't know is that besides well-known attractions like Kuanzhai Alley and Wuhou Temple, Chengdu also has many interesting off-the-beaten-path spots with very few tourists, yet they exhibit the unique charm of Chengdu.

Many tourists say that Jinli and Kuanzhai Alley represent the most vibrant side of Chengdu. However, in the hearts of old Chengdu residents, Xiaotong Alley is just as impressive. This beautiful path, though only a few hundred meters long, showcases the most charming aspects of Chengdu. It hides many ancient residential houses, which are the most typical Sichuan architecture. Nowadays, besides its retro charm, it has also become quite artistic, with many boutique shops that are very interesting. Some thoughtful shop owners even carefully arrange flowers and plants at their doorsteps, making it a great spot for taking beautiful photos.

People's Park

People's Park, established in 1911, is the first park in Chengdu. It has now become a leisure spot for locals to drink tea and play mahjong. Visiting here allows you to experience the joyful 'slow life' of Chengdu people. It's best to follow the locals' example: order a cup of tea in the park's teahouse, read a book, and bask in the sun.

Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu Bar Street

As a typical representative of Chengdu's nightlife, Jiuyan Bridge is crowded with people, which has somewhat overshadowed Lan Kwai Fong. In fact, this is not a knock-off attraction but a bar area heavily invested in by Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong. It can be said that this place and Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fong are like sisters. There aren't many people on weekdays, but it gets much busier on weekends.

Huanhua Stream

If you have visited Du Fu Thatched Cottage, you must also take a look at Huanhua Stream. It is right next to Du Fu Thatched Cottage, and you can see it by walking over. There are usually not many tourists, and the environment here is particularly serene, allowing for a leisurely stroll. From ancient times to the present, many talented scholars and poets have been particularly fond of this place, leaving behind numerous timeless poems. Du Fu, known as the Sage of Poetry, completed hundreds of poems here, which shows how much inspiration this spot provided him and how it contributed to his most precious legacy.
This ancient path is particularly significant historically, dating back to the Western Han Dynasty. It commemorates the love and hate relationship between Zhuo Wenjun and Sima Xiangru. At that time, they bought wine here, hence the name.

Sichuan Radio and Television Tower

This tower is a broadcasting and television tower, similar to the Oriental Pearl Tower. It serves as both a broadcasting signal transmitter and a tourist attraction. Standing here, you can see a particularly stunning view of Chengdu, and the ticket price is quite reasonable.

Fangsuo

Although Fangsuo Bookstore is spread across the country, the Fangsuo Bookstore in Chengdu is uniquely distinctive. The interior decoration alone is particularly appealing. Its ceiling is made of black sunken concrete, but it looks very beautiful and has a strong industrial vibe.
