The Battle of Songshan, also known as the Songshan Campaign or Battle of Songshan, was part of the Yunnan-Burma Campaign and one of the largest battles in southern China. It is referred to as the "Disastrous Battle" (total annihilation of the army) in Japanese official wartime history. Songshan, located in Longling County, was a strategically important and difficult to attack position, often referred to as the "Gibraltar of the East". The battle site, concentrated around the eastern and western peaks of Dayakou Village in Laming Township, is one of the most well-preserved battlefield sites in World War II, with bunkers, trenches, and shell craters still visible. The sites of other battlefields, such as Gunlong Slope and Yingcun Mountain, as well as the remains of Japanese power stations, pumping stations, and comfort stations, have also been preserved.
