Huangyao is an ancient town with a history of nearly a thousand years. It originated in the Song Dynasty and got its name "Huangyao" due to the prevalence of the Huang and Yao surnames in the town.

Huangyao Shiban Street is one of the famous attractions in Huangyao Ancient Town, with 8 streets including Jinde Street, Yingxiu Street, Tianran Street, Zhongxing Street, Anle Street, Lianli Street, Longpan Street, and Shanbang Street. The widest part of Yingxiu Street's Shiban Street is about 5 meters, while the narrowest part is at the entrance of Jinde Street's Yang Alley, which is less than two meters. On both sides, there are meat stalls, and pedestrians can only pass by each other closely. During market days and holidays, it causes traffic congestion. After the re-establishment of Huangyao Town in 1964, a wide new street was built, but the original Shiban Street remains intact.

The Tai Long Bridge was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It is the largest of the 15 ancient bridges in Huangyao and is also a landmark of the ancient town. Made of slate, the bridge is composed of two arches and spans the small Pearl River on the east side of Xinxing Street in a semi-circular shape.

The Stone Skipping Bridge, also known as the Dingbu Bridge, was built during the Jiajing period of the Qing Dynasty, over 200 years ago. It is the most distinctive bridge in Huangyao Ancient Town, consisting of 31 stone piers arranged in a row. The tall piers are exposed above the water surface, while the shorter piers are buried below, providing support and stability. The spacing of the 31 piers is arranged according to the walking pace of people, making it convenient for pedestrians without affecting flood discharge.

Ficus virens is named after its aerial roots that resemble dragon claws and has an age of over 500 years. It can be found by taking the right fork after entering through the main gate. Surprisingly, the ancient tree grows in the rocks, closely intertwined with them, its roots unable to fully stretch out, hence the name "stone-encased banyan". However, its branches are intricately intertwined, flourishing and reaching into the air, casting a reflection in the clear stream, presenting a mottled and varied appearance.

Fairyland ancient well is one of the attractions in Huangyao ancient town. The spring water in the ancient well bubbles and gushes all year round, regardless of drought or flood, and remains unchanged. According to legend, water taken from the spring on the morning of the seventh day of the lunar calendar can be stored for three years without decay, and drinking it can prevent diseases. Although it is just a legend, experts have found that this well water does contain various trace elements, and drinking it regularly can promote health. In our eyes, what makes the Fairyland ancient well unique is its appearance—it is not a round spring, but a collection of several connected square ponds. These ponds have strong functionality, including drinking pond, vegetable washing pond, and clothes washing pond. The water flowing from the spring is first used for drinking, then it enters the vegetable washing pond and clothes washing pond in sequence, and finally merges into the river. For centuries, the people in the town have consciously followed this rule, which is still in practice today.

Guo's Ancestral Temple is one of the largest ancestral temples in the ancient town. Its ancestor is Guo Ziyi, a famous general of the Tang Dynasty. Guo Ziyi served in the Xuanzong, Suzong, Daizong, and Dezong reigns, "holding power over the world without being wary by the court, achieving great accomplishments and never doubted by the monarch." He had eight sons and seven daughters. Among them, in Huangyao Ancient Town, the Guo family branch is descended from Guo Ziyi's third son, Guo Xi. Since the Ming Dynasty, they have been engaged in soybean processing and the Guo family's soybeans are still one of the highest quality soybeans in Huangyao.

The variety is quite complete overall, and the braised chicken is especially delicious! Wuzhou Zhongshan Park is built against the mountain and covers an area of 125 hectares. The park is rich in cultural connotations and has lush greenery and well-kept lawns. It features winding paths and various integrated landscapes. During the period of the Great Revolution, the head of Wei Baqun (1894-1932), a key leader of the farmers' movement in Youjiang, was preserved in a glass jar and displayed in various places before being secretly buried in Wuzhou Zhongshan Park. On December 13, 1961, workers from the city museum excavated Wei Baqun's skull outside the Mingxiu Park Gate of Zhongshan Park. Later, the Wei Baqun Martyrs Memorial Hall was built near the site where his skull was unearthed. The Zhongshan Memorial Hall at the top of the mountain is the second earliest built Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the country.
