The Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War Victory Surrender Memorial Hall is located in Qiliqiao Village, 3.5 kilometers away from Zhijiang County in Huaihua. It has been rated as a national 3A-level scenic spot. This is the place where the Chinese people accepted the surrender of the Japanese invaders, and it is also a historical monument for the Chinese people's eight-year bloody fight against Japanese aggression. The hall was opened to the public in 1985 and includes three parts: the surrender memorial archway, the surrender courtyard, and the commemorative exhibition hall for the victory of the anti-Japanese war. The surrender memorial archway is a four-pillar and three-arch gate-style monument, with a Yanzhou stone plaque embedded on it, and inscribed with inscriptions by Chiang Kai-shek, Li Zongren, He Yingqin, Sun Ke, and others, making it one of the only buildings in China dedicated to memorializing the victory of the anti-Japanese war. In the surrender courtyard, there are also cultural relics such as the conference table, wooden armchairs, and single and double bamboo and wood sofas that were used at the time. The commemorative exhibition hall for the victory of the anti-Japanese war was built in 1995 and displays 214 World War II cultural relics, as well as 291 photographs, charts, and telegrams, allowing people to relive the tragic and heroic era of the past. Meanwhile, the Zhijiang Airport, which is not far from the surrender hall, became the second-largest military airport in the Far East for the Allied forces during the summer of World War II. General Claire Lee Chennault's mixed Chinese and American squadron and the US 14th Air Force used it as their base. The joint US-China Air Force club and the airport control tower near the airport are still well-preserved today.
