Introduction

Located in the urban area of Zhangye City, Dafosi Temple was built during the Yon'an period of the Western Xia Dynasty, and has a history of more than 900 years. The temple houses the largest indoor reclining Buddha statue in China, measuring 34.5 meters long and 7.5 meters wide, and is large enough to lie a person between its fingers. In addition to the giant Buddha, the temple also features statues of the Ten Disciples and Eighteen Arhats, as well as murals depicting the Journey to the West and Classic of Mountains and Seas. Visitors can explore the main buildings including the Hall of Buddha, Hall of Saints, Scripture Hall, Earthen Pagoda, and Shanxi Guild Hall.
