Introduction
Shuxiang Temple was built in the Yuan Dynasty and is one of the five great Zen temples as well as one of the top ten temples in Qingzhou. It is said to be modeled after the appearance of Emperor Qianlong. It used to be a place where the empress dowager and emperor often visited, so the facilities are very exquisite and feel like a garden. The Wenshu Hall in Shuxiang Temple has the largest statue of Wenshu Bodhisattva in Wutaishan. The three walls of the hall have a five-hundred Arhat painting, which resembles a map of the Buddhist world and contains the essence of the ancient Indian Buddhist world. There is also a statue of an Arhat on one of the pillars, said to be of the monk Jigong. In front of the Shuxiang Temple archway, there is a clear and cool spring called "Prajna Spring," which is considered a holy spring by people. Wutaishan has many springs, including Prajna Spring, Horse Running Spring, White Sand Spring, Nectar Spring, Zhuoxi Spring, and Mingyue Chi, among which Prajna Spring is the most revered by Buddhists.
