Introduction

The old street of GuFengHuang stone slabs, also known as the Six Dynasties street, has a long history. The Ninghai Gate, located in the south of the street, is the only preserved city gate in northern Jiangsu. It is said that in the 13th year of the Tang ZhenGuan era, Wei Zheng visited the Donghai Fortress and arrived at Deng FengHuang City, where he inscribed the gate "Ninghai Gate" and erected a stone tablet at the southern gate. In addition, during the 11th year of the Qing Xianfeng era, Huang JinShao, the prefect of Haizhou, personally inscribed the words "GuFengHuang City" on the city gate while repairing the city wall, which has now been over 100 years and hasn't lost its charm. The ancient stone slab road has become a representative of FengHuang street and extended three kilometers long and 99 steps north and south, which is fascinating. On the road of blue bricks and red tiles, you can still see the traces of ancient cart ruts, witnessing the prosperous scenes of the old street. In the past, many simple citizens lived on this street, with every family having three or four courtyards. The courtyards along the street were mostly shops with a wide variety of goods. It is said that the main residents of the old street were the three big surnames of Jiang, Yang, and Wu, each with their own responsibilities. The Wu family engaged in business, the Jiang family managed meals, and the Yang family ran errands. They worked together, resulting in the old street maintaining long-term prosperity and stability.
