Introduction
Ladder Street is a historic stone staircase street located in Hong Kong's Sheung Wan district. As the name suggests, the entire stretch of the street is composed of stone steps. Except for a small section south of Hollywood Road and next to Man Mo Temple that allows vehicles, the rest of the street consists entirely of steps. It is the longest staircase in the Sheung Wan area and was built between 1841 and 1850 during the early days of Hong Kong's development, making it over 160 years old. Ladder Street is recognized as a Grade 1 historic building by the Antiquities and Monuments Office, and it holds great significance in Hong Kong's cultural history.
