Introduction
Tai Mo Tso, also known as Tai Mei Tuk, is located at the northern end of the Shuen Wan Reservoir in the Tai Po District of Hong Kong, near the southern slope of the Pat Sin Leng and overlooks the Tolo Harbour and Ma Shi Chau. There are several villages around, such as Tai Mei Tuk Village, Ng Uk Village, Lung Mei Village, and Wong Chuk Village. In 2007, at the request of local villagers, the Hong Kong Lands Department officially changed the name to Tai Mei Tuk in the Hong Kong Government Gazette, and the official atlas 'Hong Kong Street' published in the same year also used the new name. Supporters of the name change believe that the name is aesthetically pleasing, but some citizens and scholars oppose it, arguing that the name change is an overreaction. Among them, the vice chairman of the Rural Committee, Cheung Hok Ming, believes that retaining the original name has historical value and should not be changed to destroy history.
