Introduction
The most important symbol of Tibet, and the highest and most magnificent palace in the world, is the Potala Palace. The name Potala in Sanskrit is sometimes translated as "Putuoshan", which originates from the abode of Avalokiteshvara, and thus it has become a sacred place in the hearts of all pilgrims.
The Red Palace and the White Palace are the main buildings of the Potala Palace, with the highest Red Palace being an important venue for religious ceremonies. The surrounding White Palace mainly serves as the activity area for the Dalai Lama. This palace houses many stupas, sculptures, murals, thangkas, and scriptures, among which the eight stupas built by various Dalai Lamas since the fifth are the most striking.
To capture the beautiful scenery of the Potala Palace, you can go to the Yao Wang Mountain viewing platform on the southwest side of the Potala Palace, the artificial lake by the Zongjiao Lukang Park, or any of the three shooting spots at the Potala Palace Square.
