Introduction

One of China's Quaternary volcanic groups is the Datong Volcanic Group, with more than 30 known volcanoes that ceased eruption about 60,000 years ago. It is mainly located in the eastern part of Datong Basin and is divided into four regions: east, west, south, and north. The West Region's volcanoes are situated in the northeast of Datong County and offer the most spectacular and concentrated volcanic cone landscapes. These volcanic cones have an altitude ranging from 1,100 meters to over 1,400 meters. Because of the flat and broad valleys around them, these sudden and towering underground ghosts give people a sense of majesty and mystery. The most famous ones include Langwo Mountain, Jinshan Mountain, Heishan Mountain, Gelaoshan Mountain, Ma Ti Mountain, Lao Hu Shan Mountain, and Haotian Temple Mountain.
