Introduction

A protected area is established in the core area of Mount Everest, which is one of the best locations for tourists to admire and photograph Mount Everest. The area mainly provides accommodation for tourists, including toilets and tent post offices; this is one of the highest altitude post offices in China. The armed police will be on duty at the base camp, on which the words "Mount Everest Base Camp, altitude 5200m" are inscribed. Most tourists take photos here to commemorate their visit. However, due to the problem of environmental pollution caused by tourists, the Mount Everest base camp is currently closed indefinitely.

Mount Everest is located on the border between China and Nepal in the middle of the Himalayas, south of Dingri County in the Shigatse region of Tibet. Self-driving or hiring a car is recommended.
