Introduction

Located on the southern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Himalayas is one of the highest mountain ranges in the world, with over 110 peaks reaching or exceeding an altitude of 7,350 meters. Stretching from the Nanga Parbat peak in Kashmir, which stands at 8,125 meters above sea level, to the Namcha Barwa peak at the Great Bend of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, which stands at 7,782 meters above sea level, the Himalayas spans approximately 2,450 kilometers in length and 200-350 kilometers in width.
