Introduction
Banliang Ancient Village was built in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, flourishing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a history of more than 600 years. The entire ancient village covers an area of 3 square kilometers, surrounded by mountains and water, with beautiful scenery. In front of the village, there is a small river surrounded by three ancient temples, and the ancient post road passes through the village, and the stone-paved road runs through the streets and alleys. The ancient village has flowing water and winding paths, with unique layouts such as pagodas, ancient wells, and stone-paved roads, and breathtaking strange rocks and villages, making it a unique ancient village.
The ancient village preserves more than 360 well-preserved Ming and Qing historical buildings, these ancient dwellings reflect the architectural skills and cultural heritage of that era, with carved beams and painted rafters, flying eaves and upturned corners, exquisite doors and windows, and superb craftsmanship such as stone carving, brick carving, and wood carving, making them very impressive. Banliang Ancient Village contains Chinese ancient clan rituals, Confucian traditions, feng shui concepts, philosophical consciousness, architectural skills, ecological principles and other cultural connotations. It is one of the largest, most complete, and culturally rich ancient villages in southern Hunan, and is known as the "Number One Village in Southern Hunan."
