Introduction

The tomb of Emperor Liu Sheng of Zhongshan and his wife Dou Wan, in the Western Han dynasty, is called the Mancheng Han Tomb. The tomb of Liu Sheng is 52 meters long, about 38 meters wide, and approximately 7 meters in height, consisting of a tomb passage, a carriage and horse room, a storage room, a front hall, and a rear room. The structure of the tomb is similar to that of Dou Wan's tomb. The burial chamber of the two tombs is large and luxuriously decorated, and over 10,000 ancient cultural relics such as gold, silver, copper, iron, jade, stone, pottery, lacquer, and silk fabrics were unearthed, including famous treasures such as "Golden Thread Jade Clothes," "Changxin Palace Lantern," and "Wrong Gold Mountain Stove." The excavation of the Mancheng Han Tomb, as well as the 18 small accompanying tombs waiting to be excavated on the southern slope of the main peak of Lingshan Mountain, provide important physical materials for the study of politics, economy, military, and scientific technology in the Western Han period, fully demonstrating the spiritual outlook of the diligent work and wisdom of the laboring people in ancient China.
