Introduction
Yingjiang Temple, located on the east side of the Yangtze River, was originally named Huguo Yongchang Chan Temple, also known as Wanfo Temple, built in the seventh year of the Northern Song Dynasty's Kaibao period (974). In the forty-seventh year of the Ming Dynasty's Wanli period (1619), local aristocrat Ruan Zihua raised funds for a renovation project, giving the temple a grand and magnificent appearance. Covering an area of 22,000 square meters, Yingjiang Temple is composed of a combination of ancient buildings such as halls, pavilions, towers, gardens, and more. The temple's mountain gate is embedded with three golden characters in regular script, "Yingjiang Temple," handwritten by Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. The four-clawed dragon relief on the marble gate ticket is also noteworthy, as is the iron anchor that weighs about three tons, supposedly used to anchor the city of Anqing to prevent it from drifting eastward with the river current. The temple houses nearly 500 statues of gods and Buddhas, including precious cultural relics such as the gold plaques "Good Lion Roar" and "Miao Ming Yuan Jing" bestowed by Qing Emperor Qianlong and Empress Dowager Cixi respectively. The temple has an elegant and quaint architectural style and is worth visiting. Visitors can admire the Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, and Pirodha Hall, as well as precious ancient texts such as the Lotus Sutra stored in the scripture hall. Behind the temple is a group sculpture of the "Sea Island" of the Four Seas Dragon Kings and Avalokitesvara. Address 148 Yanjiang East Road, Yingjiang District, Anqing City, Anhui Province
