Introduction

The 20th cave collapsed even before the Liao Dynasty, exposing three Buddhist statues to the open air. The central statue, a seated figure of Shakyamuni, stands at a height of 13.7 meters. With a plump face and broad shoulders, the statue exemplifies the magnificent style and artistry of the Yungang Grottoes.
