Introduction

The East Gate Tower is one of the four ancient city gates of Fenghuang Ancient Town, located in the eastern part of Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province, near the Tuo River and backed by the Dongling Mountain. Built in the 54th year of the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty (1715 AD), it was designed to imitate the Qianmen Gate in Beijing and was built with brick. The tower is 11 meters high, with a hip-and-gable roof and a waist eave on the lower level, flying eaves and upturned corners, and a majestic and magnificent appearance. The gate is 3.5 meters wide and 4 meters high, arched in shape, and the two doors are wrapped in iron sheets and nailed tightly with large round-headed iron nails. The entire building has a long history and an elegant and simple style.
