Introduction
Yang Family Ancestral Hall is the best-preserved ancestral hall in Fenghuang city, and it is the largest of the ancestral halls of the Tian and Yang clans. It was built in the sixteenth year of the Qing Dynasty's Daoguang reign, covers an area of 770 square meters, and is a magnificent courtyard-style building that is divided into areas such as a main gate, a stage, a central hall, corridor rooms, and a main hall. The main gate is slanted and faces the Tuo River, symbolizing the everlasting prosperity of the family's heritage, and is regarded by the Yang family as an auspicious place for Fengshui. The ancestral hall used to be a public place in Fenghuang city and was also a frequent gathering spot for famous locals such as Huang Yongyu in their childhood. Nowadays, the corridor rooms on both sides of the Yang Family Ancestral Hall have become small exhibition halls, displaying Miao ethnic daily necessities and handicrafts. Every day, exciting folk dramas are performed on the ancestral hall's ancient stage to promote and continue the ancient folk art of Fenghuang.
