Introduction

Changzhu Temple is located on the southern bank of the Gongburig Mountain, east of the Yalong River in Shannan, 2 kilometers south of Zedang Town. This temple belongs to the Gelug sect and was built during the time of King Songtsen Gampo, making it one of the earliest Buddhist temples in Tibetan history. There is a legend that Princess Wencheng practiced here and her kitchenware is still preserved in the temple today. The layout and form of the lower level of the main hall of Changzhu Temple is similar to that of the main hall of the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, and the temple's copper bell is famous throughout Tibet. In addition, the precious tanka painting of Jampelyang, depicting the Karchagmi Nyinggi Yabsey in the form of the Avalokitesvara resting, is also one of the treasures of the temple, attracting countless believers and tourists to come and visit.
