Introduction

Namco Lake is the third largest saltwater lake in China and the one with the highest altitude in the world. It is considered a holy place for pilgrims. Since ancient times, there has been a continuous flow of worshippers, and the five islands in the lake are believed to be incarnations of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, considered a must-visit for many devout followers. Every year during the Tibetan Year of the Sheep, various Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and Dharma protectors will hold grand ceremonies at Namco Lake, and believers will go on a pilgrimage around the lake.
