Recommended self-driving destinations in China for July

The sunlight is warm and the summer solstice has arrived. The scenery at this time is also unique. Don't hesitate, go and take a look!

Niyang River

Comparable to the tears of Kanas in the Tibetan area, Niyang River is also known as 'Nyang Chu', which means 'Tears of the Goddess' in Tibetan. The water of Niyang River is clear all year round, changing its appearance with the terrain. It is dynamic and swift like a rabbit when the waves are turbulent, and calm and serene like a maiden when the river is wide and the water is broad.

Qiqian Village

Located in Eerguna City, Inner Mongolia, it is an isolated fairy tale village. To the north lies the mysterious and vast Daxing'anling primeval forest, and across the river is Russia. The only 7 households still do not want to leave this poetic homeland. In May, the snow-covered attire of Qiqian Village gradually fades away. One can see the lush grass reviving in the warm spring, the clear sky untainted by a speck of dust, and the Eerguna River flowing silently...

Jingdezhen

This porcelain town is actually an art capital! A bustling market that you won't find annoying; charming old houses and factory areas; every household's corners are filled with ceramic jars and pots; behind the tightly closed doors of courtyards, there might be a master of the art world living in seclusion... This well-known Jingdezhen is so full of surprises!

Xianju Gongyu, Taizhou

The last Shangri-La in East China, where you can enjoy terraced fields without having to travel all the way to Yunnan and Guizhou. Known as the 'Shangri-La of Jiangnan,' Xianju Gongyu boasts equally breathtaking terraced fields. Surrounded by peculiar peaks, Gongyu features ever-changing cliffs and stone forests. The terraced fields here are less delicate than those in Jiangnan, but more majestic and rugged. The ancient houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties still stand, and the indigenous people wear traditional side-opening garments. This place offers a secluded and tranquil atmosphere, free from commercial influences.

Niubei Mountain

The sea of clouds in the Land of Abundance, Niubei Mountain, which is known as the largest viewing platform in China, reaches its best climbing season in the warming month of May. Upon reaching the summit, the panoramic view of the surging sea of clouds is truly magnificent. Upon closer inspection, the milky white mist is as smooth and delicate as silk. The cloud waterfall, sometimes turbulent and sometimes graceful like a veil, is indeed a wonder of the world.

Pingtan Island, Fujian

Also known as Haitan Island, you can encounter Fujian's 'Little Kenting' without the hassle of two-place visas, and enjoy the scenery of Tamsui Impression and Kenting Baisha Bay. This small island in Fujian, just over 60 nautical miles from Hsinchu, Taiwan, offers the scenery you desire. In early summer in May, the stone houses built by the mountains and the sea are lined up, forming a beautiful oil painting with the green fields and the sapphire-like sea; strolling on the wide and white sandy Longfengtou Beach, collecting shells, teasing crabs, and spending a leisurely afternoon; net fishing in Tannan Bay is an experience not to be missed.

Gannan Sangke Grassland

A meadow paradise full of Tibetan charm. For those long trapped in the concrete jungle, breathe freely as you gallop on horseback. This is not just a dream for city dwellers. Under the clear blue sky, watch the clouds roll by, see the flocks of sheep leisurely chewing on juicy wild grass, and the dark-skinned youths riding swiftly on their red horses. This scene before your eyes is as beautiful as a dream. Compared to the delicate scenery of Jiangnan, this place exudes a more rugged and bold beauty.

Kaiping, Guangdong

In this small overseas Chinese county town, the culture of Qilou and Diaolou is hidden. Speaking of Qilou, everyone thinks of Shangxiajiu in Guangzhou, but little do they know that the Qilou in Chikan Town, Kaiping, is even more extensive and distinctive. The ancient town has its unique appearance with its weathered cobblestone streets, mottled hollowed-out window decorations, and finely carved gray sculptures. Zili Village, in particular, has numerous Diaolou and civilian houses standing amidst the rapeseed flower fields. The village and farmland blend harmoniously, with ponds, lotus ponds, grasslands, and rice fields scattered around, along with a large expanse of rapeseed flower fields.
