Yamdrok Lake
YamdrokTso, often referred to simply as Yamdrok Lake (not to be confused with the Yam Lake in northern Tibet), means 'Jade Lake' in Tibetan. It is one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet. The round trip from Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake is less than 300 kilometers, and a one-way trip usually takes about two hours. You can have a great experience for less than 28 USD by booking through some youth hostels or the Mafengwo app!
Karola Glacier is located at the border of Langkazi County and Gyangze County in Shannan Prefecture, Tibet, about 71 kilometers from Gyangze County. It is one of the three major continental glaciers in Tibet and the eastern source of the Nianchu River. Continuing south from Yamdrok Lake, you can see the massive Karola Glacier by driving about 50 kilometers to the left at Langkazi. Since it is located next to National Highway 318, it doesn't take much time to visit, and a day is enough for a round trip.
