Even if you're not interested in buying precious metals, you must come to the gold souk in Dubai to experience its opulence. It is the largest gold market in the world, showcasing jewelry from Dubai, India, and all around the world, mostly made of 18k and 22k gold.
The local government strictly requires all shopkeepers to honestly state the carat weight, so you can rest assured when making purchases. Almost every showcase displays diamond-studded jewelry, pearl necklaces emitting soft light, and sparkling platinum and silver ornaments. When you see a desired piece of jewelry, remember to bargain, as it's also part of the shopping fun.
