Daocheng County is located in the southwest border of Sichuan Province, China, in the southern part of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is situated in the southeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, on the eastern side of the Hengduan Mountains. It belongs to the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the Kham Tibetan region. It borders Jiulong County to the east, Xiangcheng County to the west, Litang County to the north, and Muli Tibetan Autonomous County to the south. It is adjacent to Deqen Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province in the southwest.

The Three Holy Mountains of Daocheng Yading are composed of the peaks Xian Nairi, Yang Maiyong, and Xiannuoduoji, representing Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, and Vajrapani Bodhisattva, respectively. The three peaks are covered in snow all year round and echo each other from a distance, reaching up to the sky. According to historical records, the Divine Peak of Daocheng ranks 11th among the 24 sacred sites in the world of Buddhism. Nowadays, many Tibetans like to come here to circumambulate and pay homage to the mountains.
