Introduction

Located between Shangri-La and Yulong in China, Mudi Cuo, also known as Five-color Sea, gets its name from the spectacular sight of refracted rainbow colors under sunlight. It is a circular lake at an altitude of about 4500 meters, on the steep slope to the right of the Milk Sea. The lake is crystal clear and considered a sacred lake by the locals, who believe it can reflect history and predict the future.
