Litchfield National Park, A paradise of waterfalls and pristine swimming holes

Introduction

Starting from Highway 21, it takes about an hour's drive in the direction of Darwin to reach Litchfield National Park after leaving Kakadu National Park. This is a magnificent rainforest with clear streams, towering waterfalls, and mysterious cathedral termite mounds. The park is home to hundreds of two-meter high white ant hills arranged to consider sunlight and internal cooling. Entering from the park's Batchelor gateway, visitors can find a tourist information center, first aid station, police station, restaurant, and accommodation, which is also a supply station for camping in the park. Visiting famous attractions such as Magnetic Termite Mounds, Wangi Falls, and Florence Falls is convenient and swimming is possible, but visitors should consult the information center in advance. Tourists can drive through the rainforest in a four-wheeled vehicle to watch wildlife and exotic birds, swim in waterfalls, or explore the Lost City column group. Accommodation facilities in the park are relatively few, but there are multiple paid camping sites. If you want to go around the loop, a four-wheel drive car is required. There are also many one-day tours starting from Darwin. Here, visitors can watch the magnetic termite mounds on the grasslands, and it is recommended to find a high point or stand on the roof of the car to take photos. The entire process takes 1 to 2 days, and it is a place worth visiting.
