Introduction

The Brisbane Modern Art Gallery was completed in 2006 and is mainly used for hosting various short-term art exhibitions. Exhibitions of works by Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, and Cai Guoqiang's "Return to Earth" have been held here. The design of the art gallery adopts the scheme of Architectus, a famous Australian design company. The large glass curtain wall and modern building materials highlight its artistic and international nature, while the square architectural design achieves coordination with other iconic buildings on the South Bank. The art gallery has a permanent collection of 16,000 pieces, including Australian Aboriginal art, local art, Pacific and Asian modern art, as well as artworks from other regions.
