Introduction
The U.S. National Whitewater Center is located about a half-hour drive west of Charlotte and is an outdoor recreational and training facility for rafting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking. It is also one of the official training venues for Olympic Whitewater Slalom Racing. The facility opened to the public in 2006 and offers a more professional and diverse range of water activities compared to regular swimming pools, making it a popular summer destination for locals.
