Introduction

The Spotted Lake is located on a piece of saline land and is a lake rich in minerals. It contains various minerals such as magnesium sulphate, calcium, and sodium sulphate, as well as a small amount of silver and titanium. In summer, the water of the lake evaporates significantly, exposing a rich mineral deposit. These minerals form small and large "spots," and their colors depend on the season's precipitation and mineral composition. Among them, magnesium sulphate crystallized in summer is the main reason for the formation of special colors. After the end of summer, the remaining minerals in the lake will gradually harden, forming a natural "walkway" around the lake and between the lakes. The Spotted Lake was originally called Kliluk and is a historical relic of the First Nations in the Okanagan Valley, who have revered it as a sacred site for providing therapeutic water for hundreds of years. During World War I, the minerals from the Spotted Lake were used to manufacture ammunition, adding a historical story to the lake.
