Introduction

This tower can be traced back to the 15th century and was a lighthouse for the port at that time, using giant candles as a light source. With such a history, it has also become one of the oldest lighthouses of its kind in the world. In 1822, an event occurred in Paris where four local soldiers were sentenced to death and were executed in front of this lighthouse. To commemorate these soldiers, the lighthouse was later named Tour des Quatre Sergents. Its history has witnessed many significant events, adding to the local cultural heritage.
