Introduction

Manege Square is located in front of the State Historical Museum in Moscow, and it is a popular place among citizens and tourists. "Manege" means riding on horseback and horse training in Russian. The central exhibition hall on the west side of the square used to be a horse training ground, and later people started calling this place "Manege". The building of the central exhibition hall was built in 1817, originally used as a place for court officers to practice horsemanship, and later converted into an exhibition hall.
