Introduction

St. Mary and St. Anne's Cathedral, also known as "Cork Cathedral," "St. Mary's Cathedral," and "North Cathedral," is located in Cork, Ireland. It is a Roman Catholic cathedral and serves as the seat of the Diocese of Cork and Ross. The cathedral was consecrated in 1808 and celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2008. It is the oldest religious building in Cork. The cathedral was destroyed by a fire in 1820 and was subsequently restored. In 1964, the cathedral underwent renovations and expansion, including the addition of a refuge chapel. In 1996, the cathedral underwent further renovations, restoring the roof and Gothic ceiling to welcome visitors and worshipers in its most beautiful form.
