Introduction
The Tin Hau Temple is believed to have mystical powers to predict the weather and has saved countless lives in numerous maritime disasters. Local fishermen have built the temple to pray for favorable weather conditions. The temple displays a horizontal plaque dating back to the third year of the Guangxu period. Interestingly, the temple is adorned with Western-style stone lions at the entrance, as the original Chinese lions were damaged. Local craftsmen, who were skilled in Western-style stone carving, were commissioned to create the new lions, giving the temple its unique blend of Eastern and Western aesthetics. The annual celebration of Tin Hau's birthday, which falls on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, features traditional activities such as Cantonese opera and dragon boat races.
