Duddell Street, Central, Hong Kong Island

Introduction
Duddell Street is a unique little street in Hong Kong, known for its four historic gas lamps. Their design and unique beauty have been recognized and they are one of the few remaining gas lamps in the city. In 1979, the government declared them as Hong Kong's statutory monuments. Although these gas lamps went through a period of being out of service, they were restored and relit in 1948. Unlike other gas street lamps in Hong Kong that have been replaced by electric lights, the lamp posts on Duddell Street were not removed. The Hong Kong government initially considered sending them to the Hong Kong Museum of History but later decided to preserve them, with the supply and maintenance handled by the Hong Kong and China Gas Company. The gas lamps now light up from 6 pm to 6 am, controlled by an automatic switch. Many Hong Kong TV dramas, music videos, and movies have been filmed on this street, often featuring breakup and flirtation scenes between couples. You can also spot this street in the television series "Forensic Heroes 1". Address Duddell Street, Central, Hong Kong Island
