Introduction

Located 40 kilometers from Mitla, the natural wonder Hierve el Agua is formed by the dissolution of calcium carbonate in the spring water. The spring water contains calcium bicarbonate, which gradually precipitates and forms terraces as it flows, resembling layered stepped fields. There are two large pools for swimming, and standing on the edge of the water terraces provides a panoramic view of the distant mountains and the azure sky. This unique formation has been preserved and created this beautiful landscape.
