Introduction

In the Beppu region, there are many hot springs named "Jigoku," which are characterized by extremely high temperatures. Among these Jigoku, the Beppu Eight Hells is the most famous. The eight hells include the Sea Hell, the Shaven Monk Hell, the Mountain Hell, the Cooking Pot Hell, the Demon Mountain Hell, the White Pond Hell, the Blood Pond Hell (also known as the Blood Pool Hell), and the Tornado Hell. The Tornado Hell is famous for its intermittent geyser. The water and gas of this geyser erupt at regular intervals, making it designated as a natural monument by the city of Beppu. Among geysers worldwide, the Tornado Hell has gained widespread attention due to its short interval time.
