Introduction

Ellora Caves, located on a steep rock wall, consist of 34 cave temples representing three different religious styles of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Among them, 12 caves are Buddhist temples, 17 are Hindu temples, and 5 belong to Jainism. The caves extend over a distance of more than 2,000 meters, symbolizing the revival of Hinduism. The coexistence of these different religions also reflects a tolerant religious atmosphere at the time. In 1983, the Ellora Caves were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
