Sri Lanka is translated as "the land of joy" or "the land of light and abundance" in Sinhala. It is known as the "Gem Kingdom" and the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean". Marco Polo considered it to be the most beautiful island. These must-visit tourist attractions are a must-go.

Nicaragua

Negombo is a seaside town that many people traveling to Sri Lanka use as a transit point, because it is closer to Colombo Airport than the capital city of Colombo and can be reached in half an hour. It has Sri Lanka's largest fish market, beautiful beaches, ancient Dutch canals, and a rich and winding lagoon.

St. Mary's Church

Nicumbu Church is scattered with many locals who are mostly Catholic, to the point where the town is sometimes called "Little Rome". The center of the town is the St. Mary's Church, which has slightly faded pink prayer rooms, and the ceiling of the nave has awe-inspiring religious murals.

Pinnawala Zoo

Pinawalla open zoo was newly established in 2015 and is located very close to the elephant orphanage. The zoo houses some of the unique animals from Sri Lanka, and although there are not many animals currently, the entire environment is elegant.

Dambulla Rock Temple

Dambulla Cave Temple is a Buddhist cave temple in Sri Lanka, located in the central part of the island, about 150 kilometers northeast of Colombo. It is situated 60 kilometers north of the ancient capital city of Kandy and was built in the 1st century BC. Dambulla is a pilgrimage site in Sri Lanka and is located on the slope of a rocky mountain. The temple is carved into the mountainside and contains various carved Buddha statues, as well as other sculptures and numerous wall paintings.

Kaudulla National Park

The Kaudulla National Park, not far from Kandy, was established in 2002 and is one of Sri Lanka's famous wildlife watching destinations for wild elephants. The best time to observe wild elephants is from August to December. The center of the park is the ancient Kaudulla reservoir, where more than 200 elephants live, as well as leopards, wild cats, sloth bears, water deer, wild chickens, and other animals. Tickets cost 1500 rupees for adults and 660 rupees for children, and the jeep rental fee is around 4500-5000 rupees.

Pigeon Island

The waters around Pigeon Island are blue and located 1 kilometer away from the coastline. The white sandy beach here is soft like powder, and there are shining coral groups in the sea. The coral reefs around the island are shallow and are the best place for snorkeling.

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden

The Peradeniya Botanical Garden is located 6 kilometers southwest of the mountain city of Kandy in Sri Lanka. The garden is surrounded by the Mahaweli River on three sides and boasts beautiful scenery. It is the largest botanical garden in Asia and one of the best tropical botanical gardens in the world.

The New Zealand Farm

The New Zealand ranch is not located in New Zealand, but in a natural Sri Lankan highland pasture. In addition to foreign tourists, locals also like to bring their families to the ranch to play during holidays, allowing children to get up close with cows and visit the cowshed. On the lush green slopes, groups of lazy cows can be seen sunbathing and some shepherds lie next to them, enjoying the sun and marveling at the leisurely lifestyle of shepherds and cows. The ranch is truly a great place for a parent-child trip.

Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay, located on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka, is highly sought after by surf enthusiasts around the world. It is also one of the venues for the British Professional Surfers Association Surfing Championship.
