Introduction

The National Gugak Center is an institution dedicated to the inheritance, popularization, and development of traditional music and dance-related industries. Its organization is managed by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Director of the National Gugak Center. The institution aims to spread Gugak culture to the world through various performances, academic research, Gugak education, and overseas exchanges. In addition, the institution also operates three regional Gugak centers, including the National Folk Gugak Center in Jeollabuk-do, the National Namdo Gugak Center in Jeollanam-do, and the National Busan Gugak Center in Busan. Established on April 10, 1951, its main purpose is to inherit ethnic music. The institution is committed to preserving ethnic music through the education, research, and performances of traditional arts, and aims to jointly inherit and develop Gugak culture with the people. The institution also operates facilities such as the Gugak Museum, Instrument Research Institute, Gugak Information Room, and e-Gugak Academy. The institution provides various experiential activities including performances, education, workshops, and exhibitions. Its main facilities include the ritual and music hall, practice/office building, outdoor experience field, Nammun Hall, Gugak Museum, and Gugak Training Center. Additional facilities of the institution include a children's park, information sales room, lounge, and traditional cultural experience room. Restrooms and parking facilities are available. Ticket prices and opening hours may vary depending on performances. The institution also offers facility rental services, including the main theater, small theater, amusement park, dressing room, practice rooms, and recording studio. The facility rental can meet the needs of traditional Gugak performances or nationally significant cultural and artistic activities to ensure the effective operation of the Gugak Center and promote the revitalization and development of national arts.
