Introduction

Pratap Malla, the king of Nepal, built the Queen's Pond in 1667 to console his grieving wife. The water in this pond is said to come from multiple sacred places. There is a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in the center of the pond. It is only open during the festival of lights and attracts many women who come to worship and pray. The scene is very lively.
