Introduction

Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre is a protected area for artificial capture and feeding, aiming to save many endangered bird species within New Zealand. Located in an ancient forest 30 kilometers north of Masterton, it offers both educational and recreational experiences. Visitors can enjoy watching the comical performances of kaka (brown parrots), have conversations with South Island takahē (large, blue, flightless birds that eat grass), observe giant eels and brown trout living under the bridge, or explore the forest trails to trace the footsteps of black-billed gulls, stitchbirds, and North Island robins. The center also features a kiwi house and wetland area for bird watching.
