Old Town

Introduction
The temple was built by the Nepalese royal family and is larger in scale than the usual temples. It is located on a high platform and has no surrounding walls. Above the main shrine, there is a bamboo-shaped spire with 21 gilded tower tops, all made entirely of stone. Built in 1667, this temple is a masterpiece of intricate stone carving and is hailed as a "miracle of Nepalese architectural art". The railings of the temple are adorned with carvings depicting images from the Indian epics Mahabharata and Ramayana, as well as lifelike statues of gods and animals.
