Introduction

Arya Ghat, located on the southern bank, is the largest cremation ground in Nepal where cremation ceremonies take place and ashes are scattered into the river, flowing into the holy river Ganges, which is considered the most sacred by Hindus. Therefore, the Pashupatinath Temple is nicknamed the "Cremation Temple" by travelers. Travelers can observe the cremation process from the opposite bank, and although there is no explicit ban on photography, it is advised not to take photos out of respect for the deceased. Some travelers may try to blend in with the crowd for a better view, but this is highly disrespectful to the deceased and their families, and such behavior is strongly discouraged.
