Introduction
Walking west along Water Works Rd from the Dhaka Port, you can see a prominent pink mansion - Ahsan Manzil. This private residence was rebuilt by a landlord named Nawab Abdul Ghani in 1872 on the foundation of a warehouse left by the French. Despite being damaged in a tornado, it became even more magnificent after the government's reconstruction in 1980. Now Ahsan Manzil is a museum with 23 exhibition rooms, showcasing the lavish lifestyle of the land emperors known as the "Raj" at the time, through living artifacts and photographs.
